Driving in the night

I’m drivin’ in the night,
‘Tis the expressway,
Some of ‘em,
Got their blinkers on,
Changin’ lanes,
The car,
Drives over the rumble strips,
I’m on the highway,
Home,
The car’s noisy,
There’s a toll in front,
We slow down,
There’s a queue at the toll,
We hold down.

I’m drivin’ in the night,
I won’t fall asleep,
Dear,
Taking us straight,
Into the fence,
Keep your feet up,
Push your seat back,
And sleep tight,
Dear,
I’ll take you home.

I’m drivin’ in the night,
I’ve done this quite a bit,
You don’t have to worry,
I’ll pick up a bit,
Don’t fear,
You’ll be home,
In no time,
While there’s no home,
For me,
Dear,
I’ll be on the streets,
In the night,
Waiting,
For another trip,
Home,
To someone.

I’m drivin’ in the night,
‘Tis the expressway,
Some have their blinkers on,
I’m on the road,
And you’re home,
You’ll be asleep,
While I’ll be awake,
Juggling hustlers,
Lookin’ for home.

I’m drivin’ in the night,
Sometimes scared,
Of ghosts,
Or animals,
Or peoples,
Cutting lanes,
And trucks,
I need home,
Dear,
And some sleep,
In the night.

I’m drivin’ in the night,
It’ll be mornin’
In an hour,
I’ll fight,
The dark,
And see the sun,
On the mountain,
Yet,
‘Tis the expressway,
I got a room,
Few miles away,
It looks like,
A bright,
Sunny day,
I’ll be asleep,
While,
You’ll be awake.

Another day

This life is way too wayward. Now that’s another thing to consider that my life is absolutely ordinary. Which means, it’s also disinteresting. I have a job, in IT/Software, and I got a good salary package…and all that, but here’s the... Continue →
